Charles F. Willson is a partner of the firm and practices in the following areas: general and complex civil litigation, criminal defense, family law, and appeals from state, federal, and regulatory proceedings. He practices in state and federal court, including the appellate courts.

Prior to joining NEVINS & NEVINS LLP, Attorney Willson worked for several years in Connecticut and Boston, Massachusetts, with large law firms engaged in complex civil and criminal litigation. In civil matters, his cases have included the following:

  • Representing parties in claims for breach of contract and business torts, including partnership and corporate litigation involving allegations of breaches of fiduciary duty and fraud
  • Representing clients in claims of negligence, malpractice, premises liability, and product liability, and in disputes arising from construction site accidents
  • Representing homeowners and contractors in disputes over property development, construction, and home improvements
  • Representing clients in employment disputes involving claims of discrimination and violation of state and federal laws
  • Litigating hi-tech disputes, including obtaining injunctions in federal court and state court against former employees and competing companies for misappropriating trade secrets and breaching confidentiality agreements, and defending a company against patent infringement accusations involving computer security issues.   • Serving corporate clients as local counsel in federal court in a wide variety of matters
  • In criminal cases, Attorney Willson's experience includes the following:

  • Representing individuals in various matters, including defendants investigated for bankruptcy fraud, money laundering, or tax evasion, or for participating in organized crime, drug distribution, and extortion
  • Defending clients charged with DUI, breach of peace, assault, drug possession
  • Advising companies in response to investigations by governmental agencies, including state attorney general's offices and the Securities & Exchange Commission
  • Arguing on behalf of clients before state and federal appeals courts, including obtaining a reversal of a two-count conviction that enabled a client to be freed years before his sentence would have expired. See Commonwealth v. Williams, 764 N.E.2d 889 (Mass. App. Ct. 2002)
  • Seeking reasonable sentences for clients labeled by prosecutors as career offenders or armed career criminals
  • Attorney Willson also represents clients in family court, including in divorce proceedings and in disputes concerning visitation, custody, and overdue child support payments. Attorney Willson also serves as an arbitrator for FINRA, presiding over disputes involving securities brokers, brokerage firms, and their clients.

    A former judicial clerk to Hon. John T. Broderick, Jr., of the Supreme Court of New Hampshire, in 1997, Attorney Willson received his law degree from Boston College Law School, where he graduated magna cum laude and served as co-managing editor of the BOSTON COLLEGE LAW REVIEW. Attorney Willson earned his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Between college and law school, Attorney Willson spent a year volunteering for the Greater Boston Food Bank, where he assisted in managing over 2,000 volunteers who contributed 48,000 hours of service.

    Attorney Willson is admitted to practice before several courts: Connecticut (2002), Massachusetts (1997), New Hampshire (1999), the United States District Courts for the Districts of Connecticut (2003) and Massachusetts (1998), and the United States Courts of Appeals for the First (2003) and Second Circuits (2003).

    Attorney Willson has lectured and been published on a number of topics, including technology litigation, compliance with securities regulations, counseling businesses and individuals under investigation for criminal conduct, and ensuring child support for post-secondary education costs.
